Lindi has over 20 years experience teaching children and is a mother of three. She has conducted and attended courses on Multiple Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Imago relationship Theory, the Reggio Approach and many more. She holds a very strong image of children, as she has seen what they can do, given a ‘Yes’ environment that supports the way that children learn.

Louisa had 8 years experience working in a nursery school and then joined Lindi from the very beginning of Small World. She has attended the AREA conference, Tiziana Fillipini’s workshop on ‘Metacognition & Ecological Thinking” and the Lego 6 Bricks workshop, and many others. She is your warm “Sawubona!” at the gate in the mornings.

Rai is our Small World Secretary with a difference. She is also head of finances, a teacher to all the
children who come and play in her office, and a co-developer of curriculum (amongst many other
things). She is your go-to person for anything admin or otherwise. Her gentle yet rock-steady ways
inspire the children and the teachers alike.
TEACHER OF THE 4–5 YR OLD GROUP
Amy Kay
Amy is a qualified teacher (Bachelor of Education) with a specialist qualification in teaching the Foundation Phase. Amy has been a teacher for 10 years at the St Mary’s preschool Little Saints. She has been working in the Reggio way for all this time, first as a preschool teacher and then as an Atelierista in the primary school. During this time, she has been on a study tour of the schools of the city of Reggio Emilia in Italy and attended many of the international conferences. Amy is one of the regular presenters at the Africa Reggio Emilia Alliance (AREA) training workshops. She has also been chosen as a mentor by the Gauteng Department of Education/Reggio pilot program.
Amy is a committed teacher with a heart for children. Her stubborn refusal to box children is an inspiration. She has a special interest in teaching literacy, art and technology in education. She is passionate about the Reggio Approach and is a pedagogical fundi, and yet always eager to learn more. She listens to children and knows how to make their thinking visible through great documentation.

Jarred Parenzee
Sound Engineer & Theatre Manager
Jarred has worked in the theatre industry for many years as a theatre manager and sound engineer. He has also taught theatre craft, dj-ing & music production in high school. He hopes to explore the world through the use of technology, music and play. He is at the school from Monday- Thursday and does STEM activities with the playgroup and preschool 2 days a week each.

Samson Ncube has over 15 years experience teaching children. He is a qualified teacher, with level 4 in basic child care .He has conducted various conferences and workshops on how to teach, reach and care for young children of different age groups. He enjoys enriching children’s education both in the classroom and on the playground. His experience and passion makes him a good male influence for the children. He is a father of 3.

BA honors Fine Art
Courtney is a BA honors fine art graduate who discovered her love for working with children while assisting at a preschool in Malalane, she is passionate about combining knowledge of art and teaching to see changes in the education system in South Africa. She appreciates the creative and artistic approach to Reggio Amelia and to learn, grow and is the art atelierista for the whole school.

Nancy Zvouma

Nancy can be spotted from afar as her glass is always full, and her smile is always genuine and
warm. She is an eternal researcher who always finds new ways to encourage curiosity in children. Nancy heads the Food Atelier in the courtyard – a space that draws in children of all age groups to experiment, play, discover, think, rethink and create theory.

Aimee is a qualified Montessori teacher with more than 20 years of child care experience. She has always loved working with children and has a real passion for education. Aimee is also a mom of 3 boys, Xavier 4, Hugo 2 and a new little one on the way. Aimee is very excited to expand her knowledge of Reggio Emilia.

Lynette Ncube
10 year experience at Small World
Lynette is also known as “The Child Whisperer” of the Playgroup. Her strengths lie in being close to
every child she encounters, really listening to everyone and her exceptional patience with every
child and every situation handed to her. She is a natural comforter and can do a thousand things at
the same time. Lynette is your go-to person for all things practical pertaining to your child.
CLEANING FAIRY & CO-TEACHER IN THE PLAYGROUP
Pinky Dlamini
Pinky started out as a cleaning lady at Small World. Her Go-Beyond attitude has taken her to a trainee co-teacher. She understands each child’s different personalities! She is often found helping with anything that needs help. Whenever she sees a documentable moment, she will video it and send it along.

Patience Ndlovu
Patience is the Small World Chef. She always has time to stop and listen to children while mixing a delicious vegatarian meal on the stove. She lets them taste, or asks them what they think of a newly inspired dish. Her food is healthy, beautifully presented, so yum, and the highlight of everyone’s day.

Jenny Jones
Jenny Jones is a qualified teacher and has taught Gr R at The Ridge for 20 years and thereafter at Kairos School of Inquiry for 4 years. Jenny Jones is beautiful soul who can really See into each and every child. She is older, wiser and super experienced in teaching Grade R through play-based ways.
GARDENER & CARETAKER
Langton Ncube
Langton can be found in the Small World garden on a Monday and a Friday. The children trail him
quite regularly, willing to help, cut, trim or make jokes. He is patient with the children, and coteaches
Small World values with the other teachers.
